My name is Herb Baze. I was born and raised in Mason County and am proud to call this beautiful place home. I left the county after high school and returned when I was in my early thirties. Iżve lived in my current home on Mason Lake Road for the past twenty years. My wife Cathy and I raised our family in Mason County and love it here.

I guess you could say I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I have been in the business world for the better part of my adult life. My first big venture was Herbenco Video Shelton. Herbenco had a very successful fifteen years. In 1990 I bought and re-structured Black Star Custom Screen Printing. My wife Cathy and oldest son Justin currently operate Black Star which produces screen printed clothing, signs and banners of all types, and vehicle graphics. During Black Starżs early years I also obtained my general contractorżs license and built several homes under the name Black Star Developers.

In 2000 I was elected Mason County Commissioner for district one. I served for four years. During that four years our Commission made many much needed changes to Mason County government. Not the least of which was to bring our county into compliance with the Washington State mandated Growth Management Act. Mason County had been out of compliance for the previous thirteen years and in a state of invalidity for eight years. This non-compliance issue was strangling our economy and brought development to a halt. Since this issue has been settled Mason County has flourished and weżve seen steady, deliberate growth like never before in our history. Iżm very proud to have played a part in bringing our county into the twenty first century.

In February, 2006 I started working with The Richard Beckman Realty Group, LLC. as a Realtor. There is great satisfaction working with people who are looking for that perfect home to realize there dreams or helping someone market their property in a way that maximizes their investment. It seems that every situation is unique. Solving problems and challenges is not only a big part of the real estate business, it is almost always the norm.

In 2008 I decided to be a candidate for the Washington State House of Representatives, District 35, position 2. I feel my experience as a successful business owner, local, elected Government Official, and REALTOR make me uniquely qualified to seek such a position. Decision makers need to make decisions regardless of personal gain or loss. Iżve made those decisions in the past and will continue to do so for my clients, the people of the 35th District, and Washington State.
